Opening and closing sentences follow A5.2.11 of the awards manual, word for word. Nothing typed here leaves this device.

The dates print in the certificate’s header. myDecs citations go straight from the assignment to “During this period”; the manual’s examples carry the dates in the sentence as well, which the box above puts back.

The page as myDecs prints it, from the same wrapped lines the count uses. Where a line breaks here is where it breaks on the certificate; justification only changes the spacing inside a line. The header wording for the Achievement and Commendation Medals was read off printed certificates; the rest follow the same layout.

• A5.1.4 · The inclusive period stays on one line.
• A5.1.5 · "long and" in a retirement closing is for 30 or more years of service. Air National Guard members not on extended active duty take the Guard closing.
• A5.1.6 · No abbreviations other than Jr., Sr., II, III after the name; spell out the grade in the opening sentence, then use the short title. Code names such as RED FLAG are fine. Never split the member's name across two lines.
• A5.1.7 · Numeric unit designators read 3rd Aerospace Wing, 4th Mission Support Group.
• A5.1.10 · Numbers through nine are spelled out unless space is limited.
• A5.1.14 · Only abbreviations and acronyms on the approved DAF list.
